Wart type growth in knee with pain on hitting.

Resolved question:
I have a wart-type growth on my knee which has been there for some years old patientnow. On the whole it is unnoticeable but when I knock it the pain is quite extreme. Once the pain subsides it is unnoticeable again.

It is about 5mm diameter and is generally normal skin colour. Having just knocked it on the corner of a sideboard, it is now purple. It feels solid.

Hi,
Thanks for sending your query to us.

I have seen the pics. From the description provided and pics attached, it looks like dermatofibroma. A dermatofibroma is a benign skin colored elevated lesions usually seen over limbs. It might be asymptomatic but sometimes presents with pain or tenderness as you have mentioned. Clinically it can be confirmed by dimple sign ie when lesion is pressed laterally,it almost disappears.
Usually the lesion can be left as such but if its too tender its better to get it surgically excised.
Hope this helped. Should there be any doubt, please write back. I would be happy to take the discussiob further
Regards
