Hello
Thanks for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com
I can understand your concern.
Vitiligo is a condition which needs a long term treatment. It may take a long time for the response to occur and it at times may not be possible to completely regain the colour back.
It's a condition where there is lots of melanocytes from the skin. It's a condition of cosmetic importance and causes no other systemic problems.
The vitiligo is treated depending on whether it's progressing or it is stable.
If it's progressing then oral steroid or topical steroid creams are given to arrest the progression.
Stable vitiligo is treated with application of tacrolimus cream or with oral psoralen or uvb phototherapy.
The treatment varies from person to person and from site to site.
Melanocyte transfer is considered if the above modalities of treatment do not work in case of a stable vitiligo.
I would recommend you visit your dermatologist as he will be able to customize the treatment and also will be able to monitor the progress of treatment.
Please let me know if you have any queries.
Take care
