Treatment for itchy red rash on inner thigh.

Resolved Question:

Hi I have an itchy rash that looks like a big red blotch on the insides of my inner thighs. I thought it may be jock itch as its a warm moist area, however I've been using an anti-fungal cream specially designed for it for over a week now and there's no sign of it getting any better. Can you suggest anything else please?

I can understand your concern.
The picture is a bit blurred. However, from what I can appreciate from the picture is that it's not a jock itch. It looks more like a bacterial infection or a friction dermatitis. If you could send me a clearer picture, it would be better.

Meanwhile you can apply cortisone cream mixed with mupirocin cream twice a day for a week and see if that helps in subsiding the lesion.
Please feel free to discuss further.

Patient replied :

Hope this picture is a bit clearer. I also have an issue with overproduction of fluid from my vagina, which causes my underwear to be very damp and discolouration of the garment. My vagina is not itchy at all and the fluid has no smell, I just seem to produce fluid all the time which I thought may have caused the rash because of the dampness (even though I change my underwear regularly). Could there be a reason for the constant fluid? Something that I can change to decrease it? Thanks

Hello.
Thanks for your reply and the additional image..
You seem to have Intertrigo, which is caused by candidial (yeast) and bacterial infection due to increased dampness in the area.
It's best to apply Clotrimazole cream mixed with Mupirocin cream. This has to be applied twice a day over the affected areas. You can also add Cortisone cream, twice a day for two days and then stop it. This will reduce the inflammation.
Also please make sure that you keep the area dry. For the discharge, it would be best to visit a Gynaecologist to evaluate the cause and treat it.
Please let me know if you have any queries.
Take care.
