Resolved question:
My mother fell off from the stairs 2 days ago. And she could not stand up and only lay down on the bed after that. We got the CT & X-ray pic from the local hospital, and the doctor said it was femoral neck fractures. We are really worried about her situation. She is now 57 years old patientold and we hope after the treatment, she can be back to the normal life and work. So we need your professional suggestion! Which kind of treatment is the best and with minimal risk so that she can resume the normal work and life.

Hello,
Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com
It looks from your details that your mother is having mildly displaced fracture neck of femur. In such condition screw fixation will be best option for her.
Some surgeons used to do hip replacement in this condition. This does not look best option in my opinion.
Hope this will help you,
Feel free to discuss further queries,
Regards.
Hello Doctor,
Thanks for your precious suggestion! We followed your advice and my mother accpeted the screw fixation operation (with 3 screws) on 17/09/2014. The operation was successful. Since then, my mother did x-ray for a couple of times and the doctor said she was recovering well.
She is now practising walking with the aid of crutches (left and right)and seems get better and better. She cannot feel any pain and sometimes can even drive for about 20 mins without any problems.
Now, our question is when is the best time for her to try practising walking with just one crutch or even without the aid of crutches? I have uploaded the latest x-ray pictures (which were taken within a week) for your information. Could you please have a look and see based on her latest recovery situation (the operation was done nearly 5 months ago),whether she can try or she still need some time? The reason I want to ask you is in China, some old people (even doctors) keep saying it's better to have some more time laying on the bed than practise walking. I do not know whether they are right or not, I am looking forward for your suggestion.
I was also told by the local doctor something might happen after the fracture neck of femur was the bone might be dead. Based on the x-ray pictures I uploaded, I am not sure whether you could see any sign that my mother will meet this kind of bad situation or she is OK at the moment? If what the doctor said is true, is there anything she should be careful doing during her daily life?
Thanks very much for your time, looking forward to hearing from you!
Kind regards,
Li
