Resolved question:
Hello doctor, I am a married female and have a 6 months old child. I have refrained from sex with husband for about a year. But I started getting some warts in skin. Is it caused by HPV infection? Is it possible for HPVs to lay without symptoms for a year, as I haven’t had sex for a year? My husband was recently diagnosed with HPV and has got genital warts. What to do now? I haven’t had sex with anyone else. Please help.

The main reason for getting HPV is through sexual contact as the reason for this is a virus called Human Papilloma Virus, which is easily transmitted through sexual contacts. The infection need not show up with symptoms in a year. It can stay dormant inside body for a long time, without showing an outbreak of any disease. It can also be spread through skin to skin contacts, with the affected person. However, sexual method is the most common. Anyway, the infection is incurable and cannot be removed for a life time. Still, there are vaccines available to protect one from getting infected. But they do not work with people who have already contracted with it. In your case you are most probable to have the infection from your husband.
