Resolved question:
Hello doctor. It's been exactly 5 weeks since I had vaginal sex with a female. The worry is that the condom broke. I noticed right away and immediately proceeded to change my condom and continued. As you can imagine, I've been very worried of the possibility of acquiring an std from the brief exposure. As of about a day after the encounter, I felt this very mild tingling sensation throughout my penis, but I noticed it goes away and comes back when I start thinking about it. Also, when I rub the head of my penis (usually when showering, or randomly throughout the day) I feel as if it's a little sensitive. I've read that these are classic symptoms of genitally focused anxiety, but I would like your opinion. To date I have not had any discharge, lesions or sores. My questions are the following: 1) Based on the info I have provided, should I feel as if I'm in the safe zone regarding stds at this point? 2) If I were to take an std test now, how good should I feel about the results? 3) would you agree that these weird feelings are due to genitally focused anxiety?
Thank you for your help.

Hello. Thank you for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com
I understand your concern.
To answer your questions one by one :
1) In your case the chance of acquiring STD is negligible.
2) If you get the STD panel tested at this point, all the STDs including HIV can be tested and ruled out.
3) I feel this feelings are due to anxiety and rightfully so.
Since you had a condom on, it almose negates your chances of getting a STD. The condom tear is more of a concern for pregnancy and since you immediately changed the condom it should be fine. There is a very minute possibility, almost negligible.
Moreover you still did not develop any symptoms such as sores, or rash, or low grade fever, and that completely negates chances of you getting any STD.
The tingling can be attributed to anxiety. Please do not worry. According to me you're safe.
Just so that you can have a conclusive evidence, you can go ahead and get the STD panel tested out, more so for your own satisfaction, so that you can stop worrying once in for all.
Hope this was helpful,
Regards
