Dear All,
My Daughter Anannya is 5 years old patient and 6 month old. She is suffering UTI from 2013 . That infection happens every rainy season in till date. Now I requested my doctor to investigate more, that why she is suffering infection in this season.
Hence, he will advise me to go for few scans like pre and post ultra sound, MCUG and DMSA.
After MCUG test we come to know that she is suffering GRADE IV reflex. So, he will advise me for surgery.

I can understand your concerns. This is indeed a serious problem and needs to be addressed.
At the outset, any child with urinary tract infection (even a single episode) needs to be evaluated for underlying abnormalities of the urinary tract. This can save the child's kidneys. It is good that Ananya has undergone these tests.
Her tests are showing Grade IV vesicle-ureteral reflux on the left side with evidence of pyelonephritis on the left side. This is not a good thing to have. Pyelonephritis means that there is infection in the kidney (renal pelvis). Each episode of such kidney infection leads to scar formation. This scar can lead to hypertension (elevated blood pressure) in children. Recurrent such infections can also lead to the kidney losing its function. Hence, early recognition of VUR, its correction and prevention of recurrent urinary tract infections is of paramount importance. As of now, her DMSA scans show that her renal functions in both kidneys are near normal. That is good.
I would advise you to contact a good pediatric surgeon for correction of her VUR. There are multiple procedures for VUR. Your surgeon would guide you as to what would be the best option for your daughter.
