I understand it could really frustrating and hard to have stoke and be disabled by it and again to have suffer from pain over the top of it.

If the medication - Solapdine Max , which is Paracetamol + Codeine - is for the pain from bruises then it can be taken for a short duration, say 2-3 days maximum. It is unlikely that the pain from that injury will last more than that.
But if you thin you need the medication more often or for longer term as it contains codeine which has got addiction potential. This is not only bad for your health, but also it can lead on to undesired complications.

This is the reason why your mum is withholding it. So bottom-line is if this is for the immediate pain relief you can taken it for a day or two, but not more that that. Please discuss this with your mum.
