In December this year I noted one wart in my upper pubic hair area (away from vagina) in January I got diagnosed with this and a smaller wart. I became obsessed with doing the treatment and seeing if the wart had gone. I shaved my pubic hair and more red bumps appeared and I didn't know whether they were warts or not so put cream on them and picked them. In the end I went back to the GUM clinic as had worked myself into hysteria about checking them. The nurse looked at them and saw the warts had gone and reassured me that what was left wasn't warts and was the results of picking at red bumpy hair folicals that had scabbed over. I asked her if it was ok to have sex and she said yes ideally with condoms. In a moment of madness I stupidly had unprotected sex with a guy I know this weekend and am now paranoid I have given him warts. I've gone back to looking at every tiny red bump on my pubic region pick them till they bleed, go flat and scab. I'm too embarrassed to go back to the nurse. My main concerns are tiny red bumps warts I can't tell what is and what isn't a wart and if I don't have internal warts but had sex two months after warts had gone away could I have transmitted them. I feel so bad that I have been so stupid to put someone else at risk.

The bumps that you developed after shaving is likely to be folliculitis as warts has nothing to do with shaving.
Please avoid picking them as it further increases the infection and can lead to localised abscess.
I can understand you are worried. If you do not have any active warts as of now, the chances of spreading the infection is extremely unlikely. Warts, just like herpes can recur, however, there will be extended periods of non-recurrence, whereas in herpes the recurrences are more frequent.
Condoms are suggested to negate any risk whatsoever.
I once again want to reassure you, the tiny bumps you described sounds definitely more like a bacterial folliculitis and not warts. Also, there can't me so many warts in the pubic region. There are hardly 2-3 warts, normally noted in an active HPV infection. If it is possible to upload an image of the tiny bumps, the diagnosis can be confirmed.

Hi thanks for answering the question! Can you please reassure me that it is low risk of passing on genital warts if there aren't any present? I looked online and a lot of people say you have to wait at least 3 months and I obviously didn't and I feel so bad that I have put someone else at risk! What happens if I have internal warts I know nothing about? Would I have them externally and internally?
Also, if someone doesn't have visable warts and use a condoms what is the risk there of passing on the virus?
Sorry if I'm repeating myself just feeling anxious! The two little lumps I picked and had scanned have now disappeared and look tiny bit discoloured from scarring! I'm assuming that's now a wart?

If someone does not have visible warts and uses a condom, the chances of spreading the infection is remote. I will say around 5 % chance.
I can understand you obviously do not want to pass on the infection.
But please do not worry, as the description fits that of folliculitis and not warts.
In a lot of patients, warts do not recur frequently. So chances of passing it on are very less.
