Resolved question:
I have a small bump on the back of my neck that I can only when I tilt my head. It doesn't hurt or anything, but it's about the width of a pea. Is it a cyst, pressure build up, or do I need a biopsy?

Hello,
Thanks for your query at DoctorSpring.
Since how long is the swelling present ? Is it soft ? Can you send me a picture ?
In any case it might most probably be a lipoma which is not at all dangerous.
Thank you
Dr Vineel
Hi Dr Vineel,
It's sort of soft. I went to the doctors yesterday and he said it was a not in the muscle and that I should watch it to see if it grows, but likely it's not dangerous.
I would take a picture but its not really visible. It's small enough about the width of a pea and somewhat raised but not visible by picture.
I asked if this was related to an ear infection I had 3 weeks ago, he checked my temp and ear and all good. He said if its a lymph node that's swollen it would hurt, but it doesn't.
Should I still worry? I just don't want it to be a cyst, tumor, or worse cancer. If it is a knot in my muscle can I treat it with a heat pack, there's no swelling?
Thanks!
Hello,
Thanks for the information.
The swelling is on the back of the neck so I don't think it's a lymph node
It's a very common site for lipoma. Moreover it is very soft so don't worry ,
If its growing in size then we can get a biopsy done .
So don't worry.

Dr Vineel
