Resolved question:
I am 33 years old and I have Chickenpox. I'm about 5 days into the process and generally doing fine, taking it easy at home, resting, etc... today however I've started developing a sensitivity to bright light in my left eye and most websites say thats when you should speak to a doctor. I'm not in a place where I have access to a regular physician very easily (I'm abroad) and while i could go to the emergency room its an extremely complicated affair I would rather avoid unless it's really necessary. So I wanted to know what I should be on the look out for, or when to know if it's really emergency room serious, or what I should be doing at this point.

Hello,
Thanks for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com
I can understand your concern.
I understand that you are away from a doctor and it's difficult for you to visit a doctor. Sensitivity to light which is known as photophobia usually occurs before the rash shows up. But it can also occur in cases where there is severe inflammation present inside the eye as a complication of chicken pox.
Hence i would still recommend that you visit the emergency room and let them examine your eye at the earliest. Its best not to wait for it to get so severe that there is a major complication.
Please let me know if you have any queries.
Take care
