Recurring ring worm in spite of treatment

Resolved question:

Why do I have recurring ringworms? I have been fighting them for 4 months. I have had 2 rounds of pills and 3 tube of cream. Finally they were gone for a month. Now it has come back next to the one that cleared up.

Hi,

Ring worms are chronic infections and can take a long time for complete resolution. I suggest you do the following-

You can use anti-fungal agents .I am afraid you will have to start the entire course of anti-fungal from start .You can also try a course of
Tab. Itraconazole which is more effective than traditional medications.

. I also would like to give you some tips on maintaining hygiene and preventing any future infection.

  1. I suggest you try keeping the area clean, wash with mild soap.
  2. If you are using a steroid cream or any drug having steroids, steroid damages skin and reduces immunity of skin.
  3. Do not keep the area moist as it increases growth of fungus.
  4. Most importantly take bath every day, as there will be accumulation of dirt, bacteria and anti fungal cream metabolites on skin.

Thank you.
