I understand your concern.
Headache, can lead to referred pain to the face or even the shoulder at times. But that shows that the pain is severe. It could occur due to anxiety. However based on further history i can guide you. A shooting pain, while being dizzy and the feeling of nausea, can also occue due to migraine.
- Is your mother a hypertensive? If not, can you get her BP checked?
- Did you give her any medicine for her pain?
- Is she a diabetic?
- Does she have any history of migraine?

Patient replied :
Yes she does have bad anxiety at times & no never really had a history of high blood pressure.
i don't know how to check her blood pressure I'm sorry and its 2 am where I am so she's really worried .
No she's not diabetic & no she takes just normal headaches now and then this is the first time this has happened
, could it be a trapped nerve?

Thank you for additional information.
There is no problem if you can't check the BP now, but you can get it done whenever it is possible.
It can be due to a pinched nerve in the neck. I will advise you to give her Tab. Ibuprofen 400 mg twice daily for 3 days after food, and the pain is likely to subside.
I will still advise you to get an X RAY of the cervical spine done, to rule out spondylitis which can be one more possibility at her age. It is not an emergency, you can get it done at your convenience. Wearing a neck collar will be helpful, if it is due to spondylitis.
For the time being, i will advise her rest and Ibuprofen or Advil for pain relief.
