Raised glucose readings on decreasing INSULIN. What to do?

Resolved question:
I am currently on 23 units of insulin at each meal. My doctor has given me permission to go down to 20 units, and step down 2 - 3 more units every 3 days. When I am using 23 units, my post-meal readings around between 90 - 160. When I use 20, it is usually in the 170's or 180's (my diet has not changed). Does this mean that 23 is the therapeutic level, or does it take some time for the body to adjust to a lower dose?

Prior to this dosage change, I was on 10 units at each meal and metformin. I went into DKA and that prompted the change.

Hello,
Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com
If your blood sugars are well within the target of post-meal sugars below 160mg, please don't reduce the dose of insulin. this will only increase the blood sugars.
You went for DKA earlier, so we have to be cautious about your sugar control.
