Premature delivery due to chorioamnionitis and cheating husband

Resolved question:
In May this year I gave birth prematurely to my baby at 22 weeks. Before this I had had concerns over my husbands fidelity . Lab results from the placenta showed chorioaminitis . Following this my husband very strangely owing to my accusation had STD screening which showed he was clear of infection . My question is could he have passed me an infection without having one himself , also given the type of infection in my womb was not found?

Hello
,
Thanks for writing to
DoctorSpring.com
with your health concern.

Chorioamnionitis is a distinct infection found during pregnancy and childbirth.
Generally it is not related to STDs.

It occurs when the membranes and the bag of waters ruptures prematurely, before time.
Hence, the protective layer of the amniotic sac is lost, and bacteria can ascend upwards into the babys surroundings.

Please let me know if you had premature leaking due to which preterm labour started for you.

so, the exact type of infection can be easily known if the placenta and membranes after delivery are sent for proper testing, was that done for you ?

As your husband tested clear for STDs, he could not have transmitted any infections to you.
Please do not worry on that score.

Please have thorough testing for preterm labour - evaluation of the cervix and uterus to look for anomalies etc, bippsy of the fetus and membranes etc.

Please attempt your next pregnancy after atleast 6 months, once thorough testing has been done.

All the best.
Hope it helps,
Please feel free to
discuss further.

Regards,
Dr Aarti
