Resolved question:
Hello ,
I am 29 Years old, I live in Africa - I had malaria and typhiod 3 weeks ago and was treated for it with injections , amoxil , and antibiotics. now a week later i checked my penis and it has shrunk drastically to almost a baby size. I do not go to the gym, but i am quite an active person. This is really bothering me because i don't feel like a man anymore. I do have normal erections but the size has gone way down. What might be the issue and how can i restore my penis. I just hope the shrunk size isnt permanent
Thanks

Hello,
Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com
The reassuring part is in absence of any chronic disease such as hypertension or diabetes, the pensi size won't shrink like that.
It is probably because you're still in the recovery phase and once you recover completely you will have normal strong erections as you used too. Also malaria and typhoid won't have any effect on the penis as such, it is just that recovering from them will make the body weak, and hence indirectly the erections will be hampered.
Please do not worry, you will get back your size. Just give it some time.
Also i will advise you to start any multivitamin supplement once at bed time from now on, you can get whatever is availabl locally.
Let me know if i can help you further,
Regards.
Thank you for your reply. I did mention that i have normal erections , but my sex drive is not as high as before. The only problem now is the shrinking issue. It has shrunk alot that i am now scared and depressed. I have not tested for diabetics yet so i do not really know if i am diabetic. Do you advice i go for a test? (If i do have diabetics would this cause my penis to shrink?) Also, i only started experiencing this 2 weeks ago.(I mean the shrinking) . One more then, i have a little boil like thing on my pubic - this is from shaving i think. - Might this be related to the shrinkage.? Many thanks for you help Dr
Hello,
I advise you to give it time.
Erections and the sexual drive, seems simple but is an extremely complex phenomena.
There is a lot of psychological stimulation involved. So as a doctor, i can assure you, you have nothing to worry about. You had malaria and typhoid, and it takes around a month or two for the body to recover completely. So in the recovery phase there will be fatigue which will impact your erections. Seeing that if you get anxious and depressed, you will end up getting even weaker erections because of psychological barriers. So please do not worry, give it some time and it will be okay.
Boils in the pubic area is common post shaving. It has nothing to do with erections.
Also right now there is no need to get tested for diabetes. I mentioned that because chronic diabetic patients beyond age 45, have weak erections due to neuropathy, i mentioned that just to make you realise that you got nothing to worry about.
Regards.
