The pain is in the upper thigh on the outside and sometimes back of thigh. It doesn't feel like its in the joint. It's only when I get up in the morning and I have trouble walking to the bathroom but as soon as the Advil kicks in I'm fine. I go out and power walk 3-4 miles and I've noticed that if I get busy and miss a lot of days it seems worse. But it's only in the mornings. I'm very active person. I run 5ks and work in real estate. Always busy, but this has been going on for several months and I feel like I lose an hour or so every morning because of it.
Hello,
Thank you for choosing DoctorSpring.
The symptoms you have mentioned are non specific. By non specific I mean that a single diagnosis is not possible with out further evaluation. A venous block or a pinched nerve in the back (both can get relieved by exertion / activity ) are two possibles causes. A non specific muscular inflammation is also possible, but the duration is too long for this cause.
A baseline evaluation is definite warranted especially since you have the symptoms for more than few months. A complete physical examination and few tests ( which may include Xray of the hip , Xray of LS spine back, Venous Doppler ) might be needed.
Meanwhile I would recommend not taking advila and see how the response is (increasing severity / steady ).
Make sure that your wearing a good fitting shoes. While sleeping try a neutral position ( or try sleeping on your sides with a pillow in between your knees). These measure could help in easing the pain. However as a said earlier few basic tests had to be done.
Hope this helps
