Oral candidiasis, with a white patch on tongue.

Resolved question:
Hi

I've recently been very anxious about HIV. I had brief oral sex with a man, my penis was in his mouth for 2-3 seconds.

I've tested negative for HIV using a 4th generation test on 23, 28, 38 and 45 days. All experts have concluded my tests are conclusive. I'm not convinced.

Anyway, I have a white coating on my tongue which is making me very anxious. I had it at the time of the negative test at 45 days.

A picture is attached. Do you know what it is? Is it caused by anxiety? Is it HIV related?

Hello,

Thanks for posting your query. I can understand your concern.

The picture send to be a little blurred, however it seems that there may be presence of oral candidiasis.

Oral candidiasis is a yeast infection that affects the tongue. It's seen as a white coating and the treatment for it would be oral antifungal called fluconazole.

This condition is associated with many diseases however it is not conclusive evidence of any. It is seen in individuals with HIV but is also seen in diabetics and individuals with lowered immunity.

Hence I would recommend that you do not worry about HIV if the tests are negative.

Hope I have answered your queries.

Thanks for the reply.

How could I have got this? I am a relatively healthy person, I have a good diet. The only thing that has been bothering me of late is the stress and anxiety of the HIV risk.
