Numbness, tingling in hands with itchy feeling. MULTIPLE SLEROSIS?

Resolved Question:

To Neurologist please.

Hi, I am a female, indian origin 41 years age, now live in England. for past few weeks on and off I have been having numbness and tingling in my hands and feet on and off and now sometimes tingling in my face, around the lips and tongue too. couple of times I also had burning in hands and feet and had itchy feeling at several places in my body. but they only last for few mins. for a week now I am having pain in finger tips and also pain in my feet. I am generally a healthy female and this is worrying me. I have had my mri brain scan and mri of cervical spine done. [ uploaded documents] I have also had ANA blood test which has come negative [0.2]. I have had NCV done which is normal.
My blood test results are: Vit B12 - 206 [now taken injections 2 weeks ago and repeated blood test, vit B12 now >2000]
Vit D3 - 31.3
Total cholesterol: 4.7 mmol/L
Haemoglobin - 131.0g/L
TSH level - 1.55miu/L
fasting glucose - 5.1mmol/L
random sugar - 104 mq/dl
homocysteine - 9.41

SHOULD I BE WORRIED? Is there anything nasty like multiple sclerosis?

Many thanks.

Thank you for posting your query.
I have noted your symptoms and investigation reports.
Normal MRI of brain and spine rules out multiple sclerosis.
At this point, it does not seem to be anything serious as all reports have come out normal.
It seems to be vitamin B12 deficiency related. Symptoms persist even after the blood level of Vitamin B12 becomes normal.
So, my suggestion is to continue taking tablets of vitamin B12.
I hope it helps.

Hello, Many thanks for your prompt reply.
my mri brain scan says ' few tiny subcortical white matter hyperintensities are seen in bilateral parietal areas, these are non specific'
What does this mean? is this normal?

Thanks,

Thank you for getting back.
I have noted the MRI findings. As mentioned, these are non-specific in nature and can be seen in multiple causes. The most common is migraine. The other cause is ischemia (lack of blood supply to the brain). Sometimes, no obvious cause is noted.

Do I need to keep an eye on these in couple of years and have another mri? Is it neccessary?
could this have any link with the tingling and numbness I am getting? Or these hold no significance at all in my case?
MS is completely ruled out in my case, can I be assured?
many thanks for your help ,

Thank you for getting back.
Yes, MS is completely ruled out in your case. Follow up MRI is not needed, if there are no new symptoms.
The symptoms in your case are not related to the MRI findings.
