Hello,
Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com
I understand your concern.
I can also understand your apprehensions about your continuous bowel movement. If you're going 4-5 times a day, it is possible you have irritable bowel syndrome.
What is the consistency of your stool? How has the frequency been recently? Do you feel bloated after food? Are you involved in active exercise?
I will get back to you, once you answer my questions.
Regards.
Patient replied :
Hi,
The consistency is mucoid. During the bowel movement I get stomach cramps. Although I am getting these cramps for the last few days only. I sometimes get burning sensation aswell. And the stool is kind of discolored.
Thanks,
Koustav
Hello,
Some people do tend to get more bowel movements when they are stressed and that could be the cause of your persistent bowel movements.
As of now I want you to try these following medicines and update me after a week :
1) Tab. Ofloxacin-Ornidazole twice daily for a week after food.
2) Tab. Albendazole one tablet at bed time.
3) Continue Omeprazole
4) Probiotic lactobacillus capsules, once daily at bed time.
Please continue this medicines for 7 days and let me know about the consistency of your stools.
Regards.

Hi,
I've followed the medicines prescribed by you for 4 days now. And I am already feeling much better. The consistency of the stool is ok and I use the loo only once a day. How long should I continue with this medicine? If you could please suggest a proper diet for me so that I could avoid such issues in future. I was on a strict diet of only boiled rice and boiled split lentils for the last few days which helped me a lot. Since I live outside my state so I am unable to get food which I usually consume. There is one more thing I cannot consume too spicy food as it causes wind and a burning sensation.
Regards,
Koustav
Hello,
That is great to know that you're feeling better.
Ofloxacin-Ornidazole can be taken for a maximum of 5 days.
Regarding Omeprazole, you should continue it for 2 weeks.
You can have your normal meals. Avoid peanuts, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, whole-gram cereals, dairy products ( switch over to skimmed milk ) and have brown rice if possible, In non-vegetarian food try to stay away from fried foods.
Regards.
