Neck pain after drinking

Resolved question:
My boyfriend always gets really bad neck pain the day after drinking. I have watched him and it doesn't seem like he is sleeping in a weird position or anything. I am concerned because when I looked this up I got tons of results about Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Is that very likely or am I just paranoid?

Another thing to note is that he really only drinks beer and his mom is extremely gluten intolerant. I am wondering if it could also be a symptom of that.

Please let me know if there is anything else this could be or if there are other things I should look for.

Thank you!

Hello,

Thank you for your consult at DoctorSpring.com.

I could not correlate Neck pain after drinking alcohol, but usually in Hodgkin's lymphoma, the pain is felt in the enlarged lymph glands in the neck or wherever the gland is present. Could you please clarify whether he has any palpable lymph nodes in his neck, shoulder, armpits, groins ?

Does he have gluten intolerance or any other form of immune disorders ? You could meet your doctor to have a complete physical examination to check if anything is abnormal.

Please let me know if you need more clarification.

Kind regards.

He doesn't have any palpable nodes as far as I can tell and he has not been diagnosed with any autoimmune disorders or gluten intolerance so far. Any ideas on what he could be dealing with?

Hello,

From an Oncologist point of view this symptom alone is not suggestive of Lymphoma. As a matter of fact I do not think this anything serious. I could be a bad posture of the neck he keeps while drinking. I would recommend a Neck Xray and a Physical examination . This will rule out any lymph node enlargement for sure. Also any disc bulge / narrowing of vertebra can be ruled out.

Thank you
