Hello,
Thank you for choosing Doctor Spring. Multiorgan failure can be due to various reasons like sepsis or hypovolemia. In your mothers case the cause for multiorgan failure is cardiogenic shock leading to hypoperfusion of vital organs in the body.
Prolonged hypoperfusion has led to damage or inadequate functioning of those organs leading to further worsening of general condition. Low pressures are treated with continuos infusion of certain drugs called inotropic. Common inotropes used are dopamine and norepinephrine. Dobutamine also may be required in addition to them.
Here are my recommendations:
1. She requires treatment under the supervision of a intensivist in the ICU setting and no supplementation should be given.
2. Blood pressure maintenance is the prime goal of treatment. For this purpose dopamine, dobutamine and norepinephrine are used.
3. Treating hypotension early can prevent irreversible damage to vital organs and hence improvement in her general condition.
4.Depending upon the cause for heart failure, treatment should be directed.(common causes include myocardial infarction, cardiomyopathy, left ventricular failure etc)
It is very difficult to say whether this can be reversed. While there is a chance that it can be, an irreversible damage can be possible. It all depends on the functional capacity of her heart. If you have the blood investigation reports with your please let me know the values .
Hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any follow-up queries.
Thank you.
