Hello,
Thanks for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com
This is most likely due to ovulation, and yes, it is normal in some women , for this to happen every month.
I would not be alarmed at all.
A few other reasons such as polycystic ovaries, a polyp, fibroid or endometrial hyperplasia, should be ruled out though.
Just have a gynaecological exam, an internal evaluation, a pelvic ultrasound scan and hormonal levels ( thyroid hormone ).
If the workup is normal, don't worry, you can safely attribute it to ovulation.
Get a Pap smear done also.
All the best,
Please feel free to discuss further.
Regards.

Thank you for your reply doctor, i have a few more queries, it is now the 7th day since i have started light bleeding and it has not stopped, it seems to be on and off during the day, it turns into clear discharge and then the following morning there would be light blood again.
Obviously this can be a little stressful and confusing, and i have decided to go see my doctor.
How likely is it that its something seriouse if i have never had a sexual partner? from some of the readings i had online, it is a virus that is transmitted through intercourse.
Also again how normal is it to have light bleeding at my age mid cycle? it is the first time that it has lasted this long, and finally i had made some chagnes to my diet in the last 10 days, started with having less dairy and stopped having sugar 2 days ago, i am at least 15-20 kilos over weight.
Can of these things attribute to what i'm experiencing?
I look forward to hearing from you.
Regards
Amal
Hello again.
If it was due to ovulation, then it would not last for 7 days.
Obesity, stress, late nights, erratic eating habits, recent change in diet, climate or altitude, travelling, unaccustomed exercise , smoking, drinking - all these can be potential causes.
In your case, it is likely that because of the excess weight, there is basic hormonal disturbance.
This leads to irregular shedding of the lining of the uterus - leading to spotting.
Endometriosis, cysts on the ovaries, polyp - all can cause this.
It is best to have an evaluation and arrive at a correct diagnosis.
Needless to say, weight loss and stress busting is a must.
Let me know if i can help you further,
Regards.
