Hello,
Thanks for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com
I can understand your sisters problem
She is suffering from hearing loss (both sides) since 6months
According to prescreption, her ear drum(tympanic membrane is intact or normal. But her audiogram shows right sided nerve deafness, left sided mixed hearing loss.
But tympanometry shows both side A type curve.
This is not correct for otosclerosis.
As for otpsclerosis there is mainly conductive loss only not nerve deafness. And we get As type curve not A type.
Second if this is the hearing loss. Right side will not improve with surgery, left also difficult.
So I will suggest you to repeat audiogram from a different place .
Till that you can continue same medication. But don't plan for surgery.
Hope this helps, fell free to ask further queries.
Best regards

Dr. Jalan,
Thank you for your valuable input. As per your suggestion we have once again carried out audiogram, report of the same attached herewith for your review.
Shall appreciate if you could suggest the best possible treatment for her.

Dear sir,
Your repeat audiogram shows right mild , left moderately severe mixed hearing loss. Surgery will not help much.
with this left sided hearing aid will be best option.
Hope this helps, fell free to ask further queries.

Dear Sir,
Thank you for your quick response. One more question - is there anything needs to be done with the right ear and / or preventive action ?
Regards,
Rajiv Phukan
Hello.
For right ear protection-
Avoid loud noise( noise trauma)- avoid loud music
Avoid ototoxic drug - very few medicines are ototoxic- ask your doctor every time to avoid medicine which may affect hearing.
Hope this helps
