Resolved question:
Hello,I am a male, aged 22. For the last month I have been suffering from loose, soft (and sandy colored) stools. I don't feel the urge to go more regularly than I did before but it doesn't seem to be getting any better. It was particularly bad recently and thus I ate very little for 2 days, this resulted in my first normal bowl movement in a month. This has led me to believe that it is a result of my diet but I am not sure what part of diet needs to change or if I require some form of supplement etc. Any advice you can offer will be most helpful. Regards .

Hi, It seems that you are suffering from a mal absorption syndrome. Although a rare disease, you need to be investigated for celiac sprue. Do you have any family history of celiac disease? Other cause for your symptoms may be that you have a subclinical infection that needs to be eradicated with antibiotics. I would recommend the following- 1)Search for a family history of the similar symptoms. Try to follow a gluten free diet and see for any improvements in your bowel movements. There is also an easy lab test that can be done that can aid in diagnosis. 2)I would recommend that you continue with the detox diet but increase the portion of food containing vitamins A, D, E K like milk, green leafy vegetables and fruits. 3)You should eat several small meals throughout the day so that you can facilitate the best absorption of nutrients possible. 4)Start antibiotic for eradication of the organism .Begin with Tab. Ciprofloxacin 500 mg and Tab. Ornidazole 500mg. Stay away from drinking alcohol as it may cause side effects with ornidazole. Ciprofloxacin is sometimes associated with photosensitivity, so it's advisable to use sun screen if you go out. Thank you.
