Hello,
Thanks for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com
I am Dr.R.K and I am pleased to assist you.
Bright red blood in stool indicates that the bleeding is from lower bowel.
There are a number of different causes for lower GI bleed. Some of the common causes are hemorrhoids, anal fissure, polyps, inflammatory bowel disease and malignancy.
A protocsigmoidoscopy test may be done to find the cause though there are no further bleeding episodes.
In this test a long slender tube is inserted through the anal opening to look inside the bowel to locate the source of bleeding.
Take high fiber diet and drink lot of fluids.
I hope that answers your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr.R.K.
