Resolved question:
Hi, so I have had a weird menstrual month. It started around the time of ovulation when I had brown spotting. Then I had a late period a few days ago and had brown spotting this last day. I just had intercourse with my partner and it hurt a little bit and when we finished blood came pouring out of me and even on the bed sheets. I started to cry and get worried. Should I be worried. we have been trying for a baby by the way.

Hello
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
Please tell me a few more things.
Have you always had regular cycles ?
Do not worry, but yes, please have an evaluation, specially as you have been trying to conceive.
Take a pregnancy test ( rule out a miscarriage or an ectopic pregnancy ) and have an ultrasound scan of the uterus and ovaries.
ANd yes, is the bleeding heavy ?
Has it stopped now ?
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Thanks for getting back to me! I have always had regular periods and that's why I am confused. I literally just had red pinkish blood after sex that night. It wasn't like period or miscarriage blood. There were no clots or anything. I didn't have another drop of blood after that incident. My brown spotting continue for a couple of days after that and then that stopped yesterday too. Now nothing not even when I wipe. I have done pregnancy tests and they have been negative but I did them around the time of the spotting. Don't know if that makes a difference. Anyways, I am now really confused because no period as such but just brown and that one lot of blood after sex which looked like normal cut yourself sort of blood. Now nothing. I have had chicken pox and I have been on antiviral medication for a couple of days if that makes a difference to anything. Look forward to hearing from you.
thanks again!
I think you had a scanty period , and then the remaining blood came out after intercourse.
Nothing to worry about, particularly since the pregnancy tests are negative.
If you have bleeding / spotting again after sex, please see a Specialist OB - GYN.
You should have an internal exam, Pap smear, pelvic transvaginal ultrasound scan .
Same workup if the irregular cycles persist for 2 more months.
Otherwise, just dismiss this as a one-off event.
Often happens due to stress, anxiety, exercise, weight fluctuations, late nights, travelling etc.
Take care.
