Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com.

Dear sir,
There is no standard drug that is given for sedation prior to cystoscopy. The drug being given depends on individual doctors and it is given just to allay your anxiety.
Usually sedation is not used during cystoscopy as it is a short and a virtually painless procedure.
Cystoscopy is carried out after desensitizing penis with the help of lignocaine jelly (local anaesthetic).
Cystoscopy causes very little or no pain and almost all patients tolerate it very well.
Depending on the drug used by your doctor for sedation, you may or may not remember the procedure.
I would like to tell you not to worry as it will not be as fearful as you are assuming it to be. The sedative will make the entire experience tolerable for anyone. Please relax.

Let me know if I can assist you any further. Take care.
Sincerely, Dr. Rajiv Goel,
Consultant Urologist.
