Inflammation on thigh and possibility of cancer

Resolved question:
4 days ago I had this little inflamed part on my thigh but now the inflammation subsided although I can feel a little lump underneath. Is this something to be worried about? I suspect some kind of infection but I don't know...What is the possibility of this being cancer? Attached photo of the inflammation taken 4 days ago. It does however feel and look like it has become smaller from what it looked like 4 days ago(I also have a pic). No other signs and symptoms...everything seems to be fine except for the fact that I keep on thinking about this and it bothers me...please help. Thank you.

Thank you for choosing Doctorspring. I will be glad to help you.

I understand your concern. However, from the presentation you are giving me and on seeing the image of your lump , there is no cause for concern. There is nothing much to be worried about. This lump has nothing to do with cancer either.
What you do have is an infection of the hair follicle on your thigh; a dermatological condition clinically known as 'furuncle'.

The fact that it is decreasing in size and presents with no other symptoms indicates that it is undergoing the process of healing and in all probability is only going to get better. However, it is recommended that to hasten the healing process and prevent the infection from worsening or spreading you follow the following measures.
1.Apply warm compresses over the lump.
2.Start on oral antibiotics like cephalexin for 5 days that works well for this condition, under your physicians guidance, if he finds it necessary.
However, if you are diabetic or have any condition associated with a suppressed immunity i recommend you to immediately consult your doctor.

Hope this helps. I will be glad to reply to any more queries.
Thank you.
