Hello
Thanks for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com. I can understand your concern.
You seem to have developed infection of the scalp, you would need a course of an oral antibiotic like erythromycin.
Since the scalp is covered right now with pus and crusts, out would be difficult to comment on the patch of hair loss.
After the infection is treated, it would be advisable to then treat the alopecia.
You would require a prescription for the antibiotic.
You can also apply neosporin or mupirocin cream over it twice a day.
Hope this helps, Please let me know if you have any further queries.
Take care
Dear mam,
As i am living at a remote place it is difficult to consult doctor. After net digging i had started taking Grisovin (250 mg) from yesterday twice a day.
Will this work instead of erythromycin.
How much time it will take for the infection to heal.
And after healing of infection what medicine should i take to get back my normal hair.
Please reply...

Hello,
Thanks for your reply.
Grisovin that you are taking is an anti fungal medication while erythromycin is an anti bacterial medication.
The pus that is present on your scalp indicates that there is bacterial infection. There could be additional fungal infection as well which could have resulted in the hair loss.
Once the infection is treated, the hair slowly starts growing back.
I would recommend that you take erythromycin first if possible, it's a short course of a week. That would heal the bacterial infection present. If there is still persistent rash or boils then treatment for fungal infection can be taken. The treatment with grisovin would be atleast for two to three weeks.
Take care
Dear mam,
After 4 days of treatment with erythromycin, the infection has gone and there is no boil or rash anymore. Do i need to take grisovin for fungal infection or was it only bacterial infection.
What i need to do so as to get back normal hair again.

Hello,
Thanks for your reply.
If the rash is completely gone then you need not take grisovin.
The hair may come back in its own after a few months. However I would like to request you send me picture of the scalp now.
That will help me advise you in a better manner.

Dear mam,
Please find the attached picture.
I am not sure that rash has totally gone, even though it is not persistent, at one or two time in a day, there is a urge to scratch my whole head and this is so since last 1 year.
I am continuing with 3 days of left Erthromycin, and will tell you after that.
I am very thankful to you for your advice.

Hello,
Thanks for your reply.
The infection seems to have resolved.
You could complete the dose of erythromycin.
Hair may regrow back in its own in a couple of months. If it doesn't regrow then after two months you can use minoxidil lotion.
