Resolved question:
Hello Doctor,
I am 32 years old and have been married about 5 years ago. I am having normal sexual life with my wife, but recently I have an itching penis. I have an itching sensation just at the tip of my penis and also on the groin areas. Sometimes it causes serious discomfort especially when I am not at home. Is this because of any sexually transmitted disease?

Thanks for your question. It may not be due to STD, but you should not ignore it. See a doctor to find out whether it is due to fungal infection, allergy, bug bites, Eczema or Genital Warts, which is caused by HPV virus through sexual contact. Treatment can be done at home, avoiding touching the parts and staying away from sexual contact to prevent transmission to your partner. Seeing a doctor will solve the problem in less time. If after medication and application of antibacterial cream, the problem persists, you should consult a sexologist. You will be advised on a series of tests to determine whether you have STD. Proper treatment will then follow. This symptom is not uncommon and can be effectively treated.
