Hello.
Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com.
I can understand your concern. If the ER staff have said that the blood was not from the urinary tract, then we have look at other possibilities like bleeding from the vagina such as due to irregular menstruation etc, or bleeding from the anus which can occur in the presence of hemorrhoids or even from a simple cut or trauma around the same region. Most of these causes, as you can see, are nothing to be worried about.
In order to determine the cause of the blood, I would like some additional history.
1. Was the urine uniformly red or was there a blotch of blood in the bowl? If it was a blotch, was it bright red or dark?
2. Was it copious or scanty? If you can make a rough estimate of the amount it would be helpful.
3. When was your last menstrual period? What is the length of your cycle?
4. Any history of sexual intercourse just prior to the bleeding?
5. Any history of shaving in the area prior to the bleeding?
6. Any history of long term constipation, straining while passing stool or a recent bout of diarrhea?
Please reply to each of the above questions in the follow up.
Awaiting your response.
Thank you.
