Hypersensitivity Pneumonitis.

Resolved Question:

I am 32. 6'5" 255 lbs non smoker, work in industrial field, so I am around dust such as limestone, crushed glass, and paint on occasion. I been having some breathing issues as in shortness of breath mostly at night, I have had couple of times I have to to gasp for breath, no wheezing, no cough ( maybe 3-4 times a day), not alot of mucus, it is clear though when I do. Last night my nose starting running quite abit, then I had trouble breathing , had to labor chest felt. Tight like I could only get about a half of breath. Had random burning almost like bee sting feeling in my lungs. I took a hot shower and breathed in some hot steamy water seemed to help, today chest feels a little sore actually lungs do, slight burning sensation, I was around glass dust yesterday with a respirator on though. Any thoughts pretty active, never smoked but do drink on occasion and get shortness of breath and a aching feeling in lungs after several drinks

Dear patient,
Regards from DoctorSpring
Are you allergic, asthmatic in childhood or having any similar history in family?
Hope your past medical history is asymptomatic.
Presuming a negative answer to asthmatic background and past medical history, I strongly feel that you might be suffering from Hypersensitivity Pneumonitis (HP). The differential diagnosis will be Reactive airway dysfunction syndrome(RADS). However HP seems more fitting.
How do you feeel your symptoms are associated to duty days? Are the symptoms aggravated specifically on work?
I would suggest that you get an X ray of the chest, Pulmonary function test and a High resolution CT scan of chest.
I am inclined to think you have a sub acute HP and may benefit from a short course of steroids, and change in the work environment. However I suggest consulting a pulmonologist before taking a decision to change your work.
Do get the above tests done and update me. Feel free to follow up.
Regards
