I just tested positive for hsv 1 with a IgG of 5.63 and negative for HSV-2 with a IgG of <.90. What does this mean for me? Can i have genital herpes? Can i get hsv-2 now due to having hsv-1? can hsv-1 be spread to the penis by oral sex and keep reaccuring?

- HSV1 usually occurs above waist, like in mouth lips etc. HSV2 infection usually occurs below waist ie genital area.
- Yes, HSV1 can spread from mouth to penis via oral sex. It can be recurring too if the contact continues.
- No you cannot get HSV 2 from HSV1 without another infection
- IgG of HSV1 and 2 are not a definitive test. It can be falsely positive. It can also indicate a previous infection. So if you have symptoms of HSV1 with the positive IgG then you can safely conclude there is HSV infection. Otherwise this test is not meaningful.
