Hello
Thank you for your query to DoctorSpring.com
When taking hydrocodone-acetaminophen 5-325, it is recommend that you refrain from concurrent use of alcohol. This is because alcohol will potentiate the depressant effect hydrocodone has on your nervous system leading to impairement of judgement and psychomotor skills. Therefore I cannot agree that it will be safe to drink alcohol safely tonight.
Hope this helps,Feel free to discuss further

Thanks but it's not really concurrent. I took it at 8 PM last night and won't be drinking until about 22 hours later. And I will not take another pill until at least 24 hours after drinking. (Hopefully I won't need to at all) So do you think the 1st pill will be out of my system tonight and I can enjoy New Years Eve with some beers?
Hello,
The thing is the ultimate effect depends on 2 factors?
1) How many pills have you had so far? The half life of hydrocodone is 3.8 hours, which means at the end of every 4 hours hours, only half of the previous amount remains in the body. If your usage of the pill has been chronic, some amount of hydrocodone always remains in your system and can potentiate the effect of alcohol. On the other hand, if yesterday's 8 pm dose was your first dose (or your taking of the pill is irregular and not required daily) then the chances of having a reaction with alcohol 22 hours later is minimal.
2)It also depends on how many beers you will have. The higher the number of beers, the greater the chances for an interaction.
My suggestion to you would be, even if your intake of hydrocodone has been irregular (that is not daily) to not drink beyond the legal limit. This is because generally speaking, alcohol is never consumed when a person has a need to take hydrocodone
Hope this helps,

Thanks. Last night's pill was my first. The tooth feels much better today so I just took an advil this morning. If I feel the need take another hydrocodone, I won't be drinking at all.
