Resolved question:
Hi. I would like to ask about herpes since I've been diagnosed with this STD about 7 months ago. However, i didn't take part in any special/further treatment regarding to this matter. This is because the doctor that i met at the first time directly said that I've being infected with herpes. She gave me the antibiotic named doxycycline, pain killer and cream named acyclovir. all the outbreak healed within 1 week by the consumption of the medicine given by the doc. and the problem now is, after that 1st outbreak healed, i always have those sign such as stinging sensation, sore throat and flu which I've being read in website saying that this is the sign of an outbreak. but then, i didn't experience any outbreak after having those sign, but it always feel a lil bit itchy and the skin that cover the marks of the 1st outbreak is peeling off(where the skin's condition is a bit dry). Before that, the doctor said that I'm having herpes type 2. how can i overcome this itchiness as it was really distort my daily life? i do consume acyclovir(400mg tablet),virgin coconut oil and acyclovir cream to reduce that inconvenient caused by the itchiness

Hi, The area infected with genital herpes is known to itch for prolonged period of time even after the sores have healed. The sign such as stinging sensation, sore throat and flu may be the sub clinical reinfection by herpes .Herpes commonly has re-infection which may be symptomatic or asymptomatic. The following treatment options can be used to reduce the itching due to herpes. 1) Use over the counter drugs like Tab citrizine, 3 times a day, which helps in reducing the itch. 2) try to avoid scratching as best as you can, as it relieves the itching also helps in maintain the sanitation. 3) Wear loose fitting clothes. 4) Certain home remedies like camphor and menthol have known to be effective. 5) It's imperative that you maintain a good diet and exercise to improve the immune status and prevent the recurrences of herpes. Thank you.
