Thanks for your question and concern. As it is widely known and you may also know, genital warts or venereal warts and caused by the Human Papilloma Virus and is incurable through any treatments. It infects the superficial layer of cells in skin and also gets transmitted to others through skin to skin contacts. This happens easily while having sex and so, is widely known as a sexually transmitted infection. There are more than 70 types of HPV infections but a few are known to cause genital warts and some others are known to cause cervical cancer in females. They are really contagious in nature and can infect people easily through sexual contacts. Usually, it will be showed up within 4 or 5 months from the onset of exposure to the virus. But in some people it is seen dormant without any symptoms like genital warts. However in a pap smear test it is detected and can be confirmed. Hope it helps. Take care.
