Resolved question:
I recently got sick from sweating and going out in the cold. I started out with a fever, chills, headache and sore throat. I have been on antibiotics for 2 days now. My fevers gone but I still have a headache and sore throat. Also I have pus on my tonsils…is this normal? I've never given oral sex nor have I had sex in a few months. Im not too worried about an std I just need to know how to get my tonsils back to normal because thats the only problem I have now.

Hello,
Thank you for using Ask a Doctor Service from Doctor Spring.
I can understand your problem, and will try to help you the best possible
You have fever, chills, headache and sore throat with pus on tonsil. I have seen picture, you have follicle on both side of tonsils.
so you are suffering from Acute Follicular Tonsillitis.
This can be easily treated with following medication for 5 days:
Amoxicillin with clavulanic acid (Augmentin ) 625 mg two times daily for 5 days.
Levocetrizine 5 mg once in night( antihistamine medicine) for 5 days
Tab. Zerodol P (acicolfenac with Paracetamol) two times daily for 3 days, will give relief in headache and will help in reducing inflammation.
You can do betadine gargle two times daily for 5 days.
This is an acute infection, it will improve with a course of medication for 5 days and tonsils will back to normal, so you need not to worry about it. (this is not a sexually transmitted disease)
Hope this helps. Feel free to ask if you have any further queries.
Thank you.

Thank you so much Dr. Jalan
One more thing thats bugging me is how did I catch Acute Follicular Tonsillitis, I live in Kalamazoo, MI but I've never had to deal with something like this.
Hello,
Acute follicular tonsillitis is a bacterial infection (it is most commonly caused by streptococcus bacteria).
there is no special reason to get this infection, you can get in any part of world just with seasonal change. (mostly it is airborne infection so simply it can be transmitted with cough). it is a very common infection so you need not worry about it. it will settle in 5 days time and if you start medicine you will start getting relief in a day.
Hope this helps. Feel free to ask if you have any further queries.
Thank you.
