Fever, sorethroat resolved after taking AZITROMICINA.

Resolved Question:

On day 1 in the evening I started to feel bad. I had a fever between 100 and 101. I started to get a sore throat as well. I checked the mirror to see if I had any white patches and none were present. It's not uncommon for me to get Strep. Around 3 in the morning my fever broke and dropped back to normal but I continued to have a sore throat. When I woke up on Day 2 my throat was really sore so I started taking a Z pack. 1000mg of Azitromicina. Then on Day 3 I took 500mg of the same. When I woke up on Day 4 my throat was still very sore. I looked in the mirror and had a large amount of white/yellowish pockets in the back. I immediately switched over to taking Amoxicillian, 500mg every 7 hours three times a day. Today is day 3 of taking Amoxicillin. The patches have receded significantly but my throat is still unbelievably painful. I'm in a third world country so I'm wondering when will the pain in my throat begin to lessen? It is especially painful in the morning when I wake up.

Hello,
Thank you for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com
I can understand your problem.
You are suffering from throat pain, difficulty in swallowing and fever for 5 days, You had white and yellowish patch on posterior part of thorat. All this confirms that you are suffering from acute tonsillitis. You have completed course of azithromycin and now on amoxicillin.
Amoxicillin in first line drug for acute tonsillitis so you can continue same for a total of 7 days so you can continue for another 4 days.
You can add following medication-
Levocetrizine 5mg one daily for 5 days (antihistamine medicine help in reduction of congestion)
Aceclofenac (Zerodol) 100 mg two times daily for 3 days (will reduce inflammation and pain)
Rabeprazole 20 mg once in morning for 5 days (will prevent gastritis)

If you want a throat swab for culture sensitivity for causative bacteria, itcan be done, but it will be negative only now as you are on antibiotic already.
You can do saline or betadine gargle two times daily.

Hope this helps
Best Regards
