Resolved question:
Hello doctor, Recently I was diagnosed for Chlamydia where I was found negative but my fiancé was found positive of the disease. We both have been very loyal. Is this possible that I might be having Chlamydia since many years and I have must have passed it on to her? Is it one of sexually transmitted infections?

Thanks for your question. Chlamydia is indeed a disease caused by the sexually transmitted infections. In your case I must tell you that the symptoms of Chlamydia are visible within a few weeks only. It does not take years for anyone to show the symptoms. Also, you told that you were found clear of Chlamydia. Hence there is a little chance only that you might have passed onto the disease to your fiancé. However, Chlamydia is one of the most common sexually transmitted disease in the recent times. It is generally the women who suffer from it and it might result in infertility. Sometimes, if a woman gets pregnant then she might as well pass on the disease to her newborn causing him eye infection, or complete blindness also. In your case, it is possible that Chlamydia might have spread due to close sexual contact of your genitals. I think you and your fiancé had a sexual intercourse on a regular basis and the close contact of your genitals might also be a reason of this disease. If your fiancé is found positive o the disease then you should consult a doctor and get her proper medication. It can be cured if proper medication is provided at the right time. Also, you should keep in mind of using protection while having sex. The sexually transmitted infections are very dangerous and can cause several other diseases as well. I hope your doubts were cleared by this explanation. Take care.
