Venereal diseases are just another name for sexually transmitted infections (STIs). These infections are caused by various viruses, bacteria and parasites. There are different types of VD diseases. Some of them are mentioned below!
- Human papillomavirus: It is the most commonly found STI in US. This infection causes genital warts and also increases the risk of suffering from cervical cancer.
- Syphilis: It is caused by bacteria Treponema Pallidum. In its earliest stage, it causes sores to develop in the exposed area of body. If left untreated, it can lead to serious infection in eyes, brain and nervous system.
- Chlamydia: It is the most common type of bacterial STI in US. This infection usually has no symptoms and is responsible for number of disease states, including inflammation near the testicles in men called epididymitis and pelvic inflammatory disease in women.
- Trichomoniasis: This disease is caused by parasite Trichomonas vaginalis and more common in women than men.
