Dehydrated, slurring words when milking cows. Cause?

Resolved Question:

Hello

I've had this thing happen on occasion since I was young. Usually it happens when I play sports but lately it's been happening when I have been milking cows. I get dehydrated or something and it's almost like I get drunk. I have a hard time using my muscles and if it gets bad enough I will start slurring my words. I am not disoriented at all. Usually I will get over it in a half hour to an hour after taking a break. This does seem to happen more often when it's warm and sunny. drinking a bunch of water or Gatorade before hand does seem to help some but not always.

Hopefully I explained it well enough. I can explain a little more of needed. This is something that I've lived with but I just decided to see if someone would happen to have an an answer.

Thanks

Hello,
Thank you for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com
I have noted your symptoms and you require detailed evaluation to determine the cause.
First of all, we need to exclude a metabolic muscle disease such as McArdle's disease. This would include doing 'ischemic lactate test', where lactate levels in blood are tested before and after exercise. EMG (electromyography) and serum CPK levels would also be useful.
Secondly, we need to exclude any electrolyte imbalance. For this, we need to check sodium, potassium and calcium levels during the episodes of muscle weakness and slurring.
I hope it helps.
Best wishes,

Thanks for replying. I just have quick questions. About how much would these tests cost and what do they consist of? Do you think we would be able to do something about it if we found out what it is? Also is there any chance that it could have to do with an Alergy? I am going to see an allergist in a couple weeks.
Thanks for the help

Thank you for getting back.
The cost in India (to conduct these tests) would be 250 US dollars (Rs 15,000/). Yes, we could take precautions and treatment once we found out any abnormalities.
It does not seem to be related to allergy.
