Resolved question:
After making a stupid drunk decision, I decided to smoke crack-cocaine. this was 4 days ago after I had just been fired from my job. It was the first (and last time) that I tried this drug. I now am feeling very spaced out and having difficulty concentrating. I am anxious and feel like I have lost some of my cognitive sharpness. I was not surprised to feel this way the day after I used the drug (and even the following day), but it has been 4 days and I still do not feel like I am back to normal.
My question is: Will my cognitive abilities return back to normal soon or will this brain damage be permanent? I only tried the drug one time and I do not use other drugs. Should I consult a physician? Obviously this was a stupid mistake that I really regret. I do not feel like myself and I want to know if I will ever be a sharp, intelligent person again. If so, how much longer do you think it should take for my self to get back to normal? This is preventing me from studying for the LSAT.

Hi,
Thank you for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com.
I have noted your details, and it is unfortunate that you have developed cognitive dysfunction after smoking crack-cocaine just once.
However, I would like to reassure you that there is no need to worry about that, as the cognitive recovery would be complete. Part of your symptoms are also related to anxiety. So, it would be useful if you can relax, and if anxiolytics are needed, you should take it.
In addition, cognitive enhancers such as piracetam and Ginkgo biloba would also help.
If you do not getter better in 1-2 weeks, then, doing an MRI brain would be useful.
I hope it helps. I would be pleased to answer any follow-up queries.
Best wishes,
