Hello,
Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com
I understand your concern.
GORD itself could be contributing to your sore throat, since it can lead on to inflammation of the pharynx. In this case it is important to control the GORD, for which a course of Cap. Omeprazole 20 mg once daily before breakfast will be helpful.
Regarding sore throat and cold medicines, I will advise you betadine gargling first, or saline water gargling, which will help soothing the irritated pharnyx. A course of anti-histaminic such as Levocetrizine will be helpful as it will reduce the cold symptoms, and also not cause further GORD. Also if there is cough you can take Syp. Ascoril 2 teaspoons twice daily till the cough subsides. The cough lozenges does provide temporary relief, but you won't need them if you take Levocetrizine + Ascoril for the time being.
Hope this was helpful,
Regards.
