Hello,
Thank you for choosing DoctorSpring.
Unfortunately yes, you could be at risk of developing stones. The reason your Doctor has put you on Urocit K could be due to (1) hypocitraturic calcium nephrolithiasis and uric acid lithiasis or (2) metabolic abnormalities like Renal tubular acidosis. Eitherway it is important to keep on with the potassium supplement.
If the diagnosis was not the above two a gradual withdrawal can be considered in consult with your Doctor. How ever it not safe to stop it altogether on your own as it will lead on the stone formation. This stone formation could take upto months and you will be asymptomatic during the time period. But that does not mean everything is all right.
I recommend a review with your Doctor and decided whether to restart of not.
Hope this helps
Feel free to ask followups.
Thank you
are there any over the counter types of urocit k
There are NO over the counter Urocit K options (which provides the same strength and composition.) You will need to get in touch with your Doctor, especially since you will be taking this for long term.
Thank you
