Hello,
Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com
I understand your concern.
Leucocytes are more specific for UTI than nitrates, and considering you have frequnt urination, it is definitely suggestive of an urinary tract infection.
You need to give your urine for culture sensitivity so that you can start the appropriate antibiotic without delay. A good choice antibiotic would be Doxycycline 100 mg twice daily for 7-10 days, however, it is better to wait for the culture reports.
Feel free to discuss further,
Regards.

So what is meant by that leukocytes are more specific for UTI? Does that mean that it is an indicator that its a bladder infection or something more serious
Hello,
No, leucocytes are not normally present in urine.
Whenever bacteria grows in the tract, more cells are destroyed resulting in leucocytes being excreted in the urine.
Only urine culture will give a better idea of where the infection is, as the organisms are specific.
