Dr.R.K.,
To answer your questions, no pain or burning sensation during urination, and no blood in urine. My bowel movements are regular, and no noticeable color changes. The pain is the most noteable when sitting, if I lay on my belly to sleep there no pain, nor is there pain while standing. There is some pain when stretching. I notice more pain when twisting to the left, but I can bend and touch my toes without pain. I have no scans done to this point. It could be a muscle or bone, but I did nothing to cause the last three weeks of discomfort. I have been applying ointment to the area and also using heating pad, but none of that worked. I came back to my original thought, it feels more behind the bone. It is strange that it is more towards my side than the middle of my back, if you follow the last rib around from the front to the side then the back, that is the location of the pain. Liver issues run in my family, but I think that area is to far from the liver, right? I thought maybe something lung related, since I smoked for several years until i stopped in 2013, but that is too low for lungs, I think. The pain subsides when standing, or laying on my belly or on that left side. The pain is more of a sore dull pain. I hope I am being depicting the problem correctly. My main concerns is that it is something bad......cancer in the lower lung, cirrhosis in the liver or even worse cancer, pancreatitis, or spleen issues. I know I might be over analyzing the issue, but I kind of get worried when something like this does not go away, and has been hanging around for weeks.
Hi,
Thanks for providing the additional information.
You have given a good description of your symptoms.
The most likely cause is muscular pain. You have mentioned that certain posture and activity worsen the pain which point towards muscular pain.
As far as any internal issues are concerned, that is the area where the lower part of the left lung and its covering, the spleen, the left kidney and part of pancreas are situated.
Enlarged spleen is unlikely as the lab reports you have posted are not suggestive.
It does not appear to be due to left lower lung issue also as you do not have any symptoms suggestive of it.
You can get an Ultrasound/CT scan of the abdomen done to rule out pancreatic and left kidney issues and a chest xray or CT scan of the chest to confirm that there is nothing wrong with your left lung and its covering.
I hope that answers your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr.R.K.
