Hi,
Thanks for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com. I am Dr.R.K and I am pleased to assist you.
You are having symptoms of acid reflux disease. Medications like Nexium are good in controlling the symptoms of acid reflux. But for effective and total control of the symptoms, in addition to the medications, lifestyle/dietary modifications are also important -
1. Weight reduction if obese
2. Avoid coffee, citrus, tomatoes, fatty/spicy food, mint, chocolates
3. Avoid eat heavy meals and eat smaller multiple meals
4. Avoid bed time snacks and go to bed at least 2-3 hours after food.
Medications and these lifestyle/dietary changes would help to control your symptoms.
If the symptoms still persist despite these measures, then you may have to undergo a 24 hours pH monitoring test to see whether your symptoms are really due to acid reflux.
I hope that answers your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr.R.K

I am taking most of these measures as I have done a lot of research on it.. I was expecting some medicine from you which I can take in morning and night so that It keeps my mouth fresh and less acidic...else my teeth will decay soon. I am having pain in my teeth every morning and I have to brush twice/thrice to get my teeth working. This disease is not causing much problem to my body but it is making my throat, tongue and teeth worse. I always feel as something very small is sticking to the inner walls of my throat and I can feel the gradual weakening of my teeth.
Hello.
The feeling of something stuck in the throat is called globus pharyngeus and it is one of the symptoms of GERD. The most effective way to get rid of your symptoms is to have GERD strictly under control. Lifestyle and dietary changes are more important than medications here. So please make sure you follow all those measures strictly.
In summary, for effective control of GERD symptoms, you can do the following -
1. Nexium once daily in the morning
2. Ranitidine at bed time
3. Lifestyle /dietary changes
Alternatively you can take -
1. Ilaprazole once in the morning
2. Ranitidine at bed time
3. Lifestyle/dietary changes
I hope that answers your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
