You are having symptoms of acid reflux disease. Medications like Nexium are good in controlling the symptoms of acid reflux. But for effective and total control of the symptoms, in addition to the medications, lifestyle/dietary modifications are also important -

1.  Weight reduction if obese

2. Avoid coffee, citrus, tomatoes, fatty/spicy food, mint, chocolates

3. Avoid eat heavy meals and eat smaller multiple meals

4. Avoid bed time snacks and go to bed at least 2-3 hours after food.

Medications and these lifestyle/dietary changes would help to control your symptoms.

If the symptoms still persist despite these measures, then you may have to undergo a 24 hours pH monitoring test to see whether your symptoms are really due to acid reflux.
