Resolved question:
I have Graves Disease. I had radiation iodine treatment in 2011. In 2012 my Endocrinologist gave us the go ahead to start trying to conceive. My husband and I are going to fertility clinic for IUI due to male infertility. My question is we've had 4 iui and no pregnancy. Last week I saw my Endocrinologist and he said my TSH level is 9.4 which is high but he wants to keep me where I'm at because my other thyroid levels r normal. Free t3 2.7. T3 total 119. Free T4 1.37. Can i conceive with a high TSH level 9.4? Everything I've read online is high tsh levels can make it difficult to conceive and cause miscarriages. I don't understand why my endocrinologist would want to keep me where I'm at.

Hello.
Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com
Yes, The TSH of 9.4 is defly high and expected after radioIodine.
This degree of Subclinical hypothyroidism also is enough to adversely affect prospects of conceiving and a successful pregnancy thereafter.
I suggest you start Thyroxine replacement with 50mcg and adjust the dose every month by testing TSH and keep a target of TSH of 0.4-2.5 mIU/l.
Feel free to discuss further,
Regards.
Thank you.
