Can big black spot on lumbar vertebra on X Ray be cancer?

Resolved question:
Well Ive had lower back pain for some days now, and I went to the doctors and they sent me to X-rays. I Haven't received results but i did get a copy of my X-rays. I saw a black Big spot on my lumber vertebral. Could that be cancer?

Hello,

Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.

I have seen your spine X-ray and would like to reassure you that it is normal and there is no evidence of cancer in that.
The black shadow is the neural foramen, through which nerves come out and go to the legs.

So, the back pain is likely to be mechanical, which would improve with analgesics such as ibuprofen or diclofenac. Doing back extension exercises, under the guidance of a physiotherapist would also help.

I hope it helps. Please get back if you have any more queries.

Best wishes,

My previous doctor said I have Spinal bifida and they never explained what it was or how to treat it.
